Projects

Project 1: Computational Thinking (Spreadsheet Data Analysis) [CO.1]

  • Task: Conduct an item analysis by using a pre-existing or self-generated multiple-choice assessment (limit to four [4] answer choices) related to your subject area. You should ensure you have at least five (5) questions and ten (10) respondents, in order to analyze the data.

  • Reflection: After performing this analysis on pre-existing and or self-made multiple-choice assessments and reviewing the results, I was able to determine that this project allowed me to assess the questions, and the percentage of times students got the questions right and/or wrong gave us an in-depth view of how effective the test/questions were.

Project 2: Multimedia Product [CO.8]

  • Task: Create a maximum four-minute or less (but more than three minutes) video tutorial that demonstrates the instructions/process from your subject area so that a viewer can learn a small skill. Include a text-based “Intention” statement that explains the goal of the product and the benefit it will have for student learning.

  • Reflection: This project I found fun and challenging at the same time. This is due to the fact that I found it fun to show a video that demonstrated how to create an activity that is both educational and entertaining, but I found it challenging to record myself without making mistakes. However, after analyzing the purpose of the assignment, it is clear that this project aided in explaining step-by-step how a skill should be learned and performed.

Project 3: Enhancing Instructional Environments Using Technology [CO.4/9]

  • Task: Modify an existing lesson plan (or create a new one) to enhance the learning experience using technology that is aligned with your subject area. Include a teacher-oriented reflection that addresses the considerations and “cost analysis” of the technology for the lesson, as well as peer review another classmate’s lesson plan relating to the “Technology” rubric domain.

  • Reflection: Project 3 was perhaps the most challenging assignment, this is not because it was to create a lesson plan, but to create a lesson plan that had such specified credentials to be filled. To be specific, the lesson plan guide we were provided was not at all how my district has their teachers complete their lesson plan; for we go through a website that provides us with a lesson plan that we fill out and then gets submitted to our administrators. That being stated, this project allowed me to expand my specifications to my lesson plan and helped me generate more detailed ones.

Project 4: E-Portfolio [CO.7]

  • Task: Create an e-portfolio page for this course that will contain specified artifacts, inclusive of projects, to showcase foundational competencies of Educational Technology.

  • Reflection: Project 4 was quite interesting, for it allowed me to generate a modern and create a portfolio that not only displays myself and my contribution to course assignments. Additionally, it also taught me that I can apply this to other areas as well, like my teacher page, teach students to use it for future assignments/activities, and more!
